CTS Energy is a company with a very ambitious project: the production of hydrogen and hydromethane and the storage of energy, starting with the absorption of Carbon Dioxide by using the “excess” electricity produced from renewable sources and converted into electrolytic hydrogen, which, on reacting with carbon dioxide, is then converted into methane.
On combustion, the methane returns the carbon dioxide absorbed in the process to the environment, giving rise to a cycle virtually free of CO2 emissions.
At this point, the methane can be fed into the network, used to fuel “zero emission” vehicles, collected for later use or used in fuel cells. The system acts like a zero-emissions energy fly-wheel and is based on immediately available, mature technologies such as electrolysis and the methanation process. The most immediate and intuitive use is for sustainable mobility and cogeneration for heating and electricity.
